SUSPECT ARRESTED IN A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE WITH 60 AK47 BULLETS CONCEALED INSIDE HIS CANVAS

A suspected armed robber, Patrick Anthony, has been arrested by Police operatives in Delta State, after he was found with 60 AK-47 bullets hidden inside a pair of canvas shoes inside a bag while travelling in a commercial vehicle in Delta State.

Spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command , DSP Bright Edafe,  disclosed this on Monday, 25th October, 2021.

He said that the 36-year old  suspect, Anthony, was arrested by the operatives of the Dragon Patrol Team of the State Police Command while on stop-and-search duty along Warri-Sapele Road by Mercy City, Effurun, when they flagged down a commercial bus heading from Warri to Sapele.

When the vehicle and the occupants were searched, Anthony was found with 60 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition neatly concealed inside a pair of canvas shoes, which belonged to him inside his bag. He was promptly arrested.

DSP Edafe, disclosed that the suspected armed robber had given useful information to the Police about how he was able to get the 60 bullets.

He stated the suspect is currently under investigation after which he will be prosecuted in the Court of law for the alleged offence under the criminal code.

His statement read : “Operatives of the Dragon Patrol Team of the State Police Command, while on stop-and-search duty along Warri-Sapele road by Mercy City Effurun, flagged down one Toyota Picnic commercial vehicle heading from Warri to Sapele”. 

“Upon search of the vehicle and occupants, 60 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition neatly concealed inside a pair of canvas shoes in a bag were recovered from one of the passengers named Patrick Anthony, aged 36 years.”

“He has given useful information to the police about his activities and more investigations are ongoing after which he will be prosecuted in the Court of law.”
