Presidential Election Petition Court Turned Down Live Coverage Request

The Presidential Election Petition Court, has turned down the request for live coverage of its proceedings made by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ruling on the application on Monday May 22,2023, the court held that live broadcast or streaming of the proceedings of the court is not provided for in the rules, policy, or procedure of the court.

The court noted that no such policy is in place as yet, and as such it cannot adopt a procedure not provided by the administrative process of the court

Justice Haruna Tsamani who prepared the lead ruling held “Since there is no such policy, we cannot create one or do anything that will affect the dignity of the proceedings”

The four other members unanimously agreed with the ruling.
