It was celebration galore last Saturday, December 7th,2024, at Ijegun area of Lagos State,as the fast growing Club, Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria, marked their annual end-of-year party in fanfer.
The occasion which witnessed the sensational crowning of a new ceremonial Queen , Mayor, King of Boys and other offices , turned out to be a money spinning event,as Naira rained like torrents.
As the much expected raffle draw commenced , some Cheering Members who had earlier purchased their tickets, went home with varieties of items including: a fridge, N540,000 worth television set, generator, washing machine, gas cookers, fan, gold watches, bags of rice, cartons of noodles, and other mouthwatering prizes .
Besides the raffle draws, members welfare took center stage as lots of gift items including cash, exchanged hands.
Indeed topmost in minds of members is the sharing of gifts and prizes at the event, which members look forward to every year.
This, the Association said,is the landmark appreciation and financial support usually given to the less privileged, widows, and widowers and other financially unstable members.
News Planet International reports that the unique Association is barely 9 years old but has outshined and surpassed many other Clubs in its category, with its life support programs and activities.
Speaking at the end-of-year event, the Founder and President of the Association, Eze , Ambassador Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi, exhibited his large heart and spirit of giving with the presentation of N40,000 cash gift to Widows , widowers members of the association ,to support their financial needs for the Christmas and New Year seasons.
Commenting on the success of the raffle draws witnessed by Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Agatha Eze, the chairman of the raffle draw committee, Chief Martins Okezie, stated that the draw was, open, free and fair.
According to him, the Association instituted the unique raffle draw , as another means of appreciating the members.
During his Media interview, Eze Nwokedi, he told News Hunters that the raffle draw is very significant during the association’s end-of-year program and is done fairly.
He recalled that initially, the raffle draw was not welcomed with enthusiasm like this years edition,by members, which he said necessitated last year’s inclusion of non – members, however , he noted that his members showed more interest this year and went home with good prizes .
On success recorded so far by the Club, Eze Nwokedi , thanked God for His Grace leading them to the 9th year.
The Founder added that the Association has made savings of over N80 millions , which is reserved as funding for members welfare, including loans for businesses , emergencies , support funds for the less privileged, widows, and widowers.
To avoid hijacking and disregard to the Associations values and ethics, Nwokedi said that there is no immediate plans to have branches of the club, however, he said that the club have members resident abroad.
Loans , he noted are given to members without collateral,commission but on a favorable repayment condition and time frame.
Other benefits and privileges member enjoys also include financial benefits given to next of kin in the situation of the death of a member, assistance in resolving genuine law enforcement issues , payment of hospital bills for a needy member, and the less privileged, who are non – members .
Besides the enthronement of king and queen Chika Onyebuchi, of the association, there was cutting of cake for December celebrants who are members of the association,free style dancing and refreshment.
Some of the winners of this year’s raffle draws are Onyeka Okonkwo (won a big 43-inch television), Chukwuemeka Nwagu (won a deep freezer), Somtochukwu Samuel Nwokedi (won a generator set), Abundant Nwokedi (won a bag of rice), Bishop Moses Okwuosa, Chinonso Emmanuel, Chukwuebuka Nwagu, and others with over 40 items won.
