It was indeed a memorial Day in the lives of Book Shop Operators in the Country, ,as their long forgotten years of contributions to the Educational Sub- Sector of the economy, was brought to remembrance yesterday.
The event which was held at Ikeja Grammer School, Oshodi, lagos State, was powered by Angels Expression Ltd in conjunction with Binary Vision Publishers .
News Planet International reports that this remarkable event was commended by all the Book Shop Operators ,who were gathered together at the occasion, but hitherto,had for years felt that their efforts and contributions to the country’s educational growth indices ,were not reckoned with by government and the members of the public,who at one point or the other had depended on their book selling trade ,on their road to academic and educational excellence.
Speaking, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,CEO, of Jamganza Bookshop, His Highness,Eze Dr.Amb. Peter Umeh, JP, one of the oldest major and Big Book Shops operating in Mushin part of lagos State, with distribution and supply tentacles in Aba, Onitsha, Owerri and the Northern Nigeria, decried the long years of neglect and disregard accorded Book sellers.
Eze Umeh, who is the Eze Ndigbo 1 of Mushin Local Government Area and Patron, Awalasi Progressive Union, APU, Uga Community in Anambra State, noted that after Teachers and Lecturers, Book sellers are pivotal to achieving academic excellence in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.
The highly elated King, who appreciated the Organizers with some financial support,thanked them for the vision and pioneering efforts to remember Book Shop Operators and pledged to partner with them in their future endeavors.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the CEO, Angels Expression Ltd,Mr. Igele Michael, who partnered his wife Mrs Koko Igele’s Publishing outfit, Binary Vision Publishers, called on government at all levels, to recognize the place of Book sellers in the growth of the educational sector.
Incidentally , Mrs Koko author of four previous fast selling books, has a new book in the Kitty, meant for next academic curriculum, entitled,”A Letter To My Teacher”
Igele expressed the Organizers appreciation to the Directors at the Lagos state ministry of Education, with particular and special reference to Mr. Paul Legbeti, who he said provided the events venue.
