A notable Igbo Leader and President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Lord Mayor, Ambassador Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has expressed his sadness and heart felt sympathy over the news of the sudden and shocking death of  foremost Igbo Leader and President – General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide, Engineer Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Popularly known as Ahaejiagamba.

Ambassador Aguene said in an interview with the News planet International, that Chief Iwuanyanwu’s sudden demise,was painful , shocking and a devastating blow to every true Igbo person , especially with the great vision he had for the South – East Region.

Mayor Aguene,fondly called Capacity President by Chief Iwuanyanwu while alive , regretted that death snatched the  industrious Igbo leader before he could accomplish his great visions for Ndigbo.

According to him, “Death is inevitable and will come when it will come. My heart and the heart of the entire members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos state chapter , Ndigbo in general are heavy with the sad news but God Almighty knows better”, he said.

Speaking, Mayor Aguene prayed that God will grant his immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.

Ambassador Aguene however called on all Igbo sons and daughters home and abroad , the South – East Governors, Senators and members of the Federal House of Representative ,to gear up towards giving the late Igbo icon, Ahaejiagamba ,a befitting burial he deserves.

” A very big vacuum has been created with the death of Our leader and President – General , Engineer Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, CFR, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic,OFR, Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR”.

” He is and was a National and International Figure, a symbol of true Igbo person, lover of Ndigbo and an accomplished entrepreneur.So, it behoves on us all not to allow his legacies to diminish or be trampled upon”, Mayor Aguene stated.

While recalling his last meeting with Chief Iwuanyanwu at his Owerri Office and Residence ,shortly before the sad news, Mayor Aguene,therefore pledged the support and commitment of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos state, towards an epic and befitting burial for Chief Iwuanyanwu.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s death 

was reportedly confirmed in a statement on Thursday by Jide Iwuanyanwu.

The statement reads, “The Iwuanyanwu family of Umuohii Atta, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State announces the demise of our patriarch, Engr Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu-Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo.“

He was said to have died on Thursday, July 25, 2024, after a brief illness. He was aged 82.

“Chief Iwuanyanwu before his death was President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly”

“The late Iwuanyanwu leaves behind his wife, Frances Iwuanyanwu, as well as his numerous children and grandchildren.”

 The statement stated that the family will announce funeral arrangements after necessary consultations.
