Council Of Ndieze Lagos, Mourn Painful Exit Of Prof. George Obiozor,Commiserates With Family, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Imo Indigenes

As tributes continue to pour in like torrents, Council Of Ndieze in Diaspora,  Lagos State Chapter, yesterday, joined numerous sympathizers all over the world, in commiserating with Ohanaeze Ndigbo world wide, Ndigbo in General, Imo State Indigenes and family of late Erudite Professor, George Obiozor who reportedly died last week.

EZE CHRIS OFFIA

Describing Professor  Obiozor’s death as shocking and painful, the reverred Igbo Council Of Ndieze and traditional leaders in Lagos state, however enjoined his family and those his demise have affected greatly, to find solace in the fact that the late scholar had a life well spent.

In a statement despatched to News Planet International online newspaper and signed by the groups’ Chairman, Eze Christopher Offia (KSM), titled  ” PAINFUL BUT A LIFE WELL SPENT!!!”, it Stated thus :

and with a heavy heart, we receive and mourn the painful news of the death of our Erudite Scholar, Ambassador Per Excellent and  President General of Ohanaeze World-Wide.”

News Planet International reports that last Wednesday night, December 28th, 2022, Imo state government Officially  announced the death in a statement, titled, Imo State Government Obituary Announcement.

The statement reads, “On behalf of the government and people of Imo state, I, Sen Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo state, sorrowfuly  announce the passage of a great Son of Imo state and Nigeria, the President General of ohanaeze Ndigbo, worldwide, Prof George OBIOZOR.“A renowned academic, an exceptional diplomat and statesman and a tenacious patriot, Prof George Obiozor  passed on recently after a brief illness.

“The death of this foremost Igbo leader and former NIGERIA’S ambassador to the United States and the State of Israel, is a big loss to Imo state, the South East and the entire Nigeria. I have no doubt that both Nigeria and the international community will miss his profound intellectual contributions and wise counsel on national and global issues.

According to the reports, the 80-year-old retired diplomat from Awo-Omanma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State was said to have been sick for a while and out of circulation.

Professor George Obiozor, was elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo world wide  on 10th January, 2021.

Until his death, Professor George Obiozor was president Ohanaeze Ndigbo.President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and  celebrated his 80th birthday on August 15, 2022.

The statement by the state government indicated that his burial arrangements will be announced in due course by the family.
