OPERATION SAY NO: Police Dislodges Cultists In Lagos, Apprehend ‘Omo Kasari Confraternity’ Members, Others

Police in Lagos appears to have sworn to rid the state off Cultists and hoodlums. This it said was to ensure that the activities of cultists and hoodlums who foment troubles and threaten peace and security in the state are checked.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, was credited to have given the matching order to Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Department via Police Wireless Message. Odumosu in the message directed that miscreants, cultists and hoodlums be sniffed out of their hideouts, arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
According to him, cultism precedes and precipitates other heinous crimes and social vices; and it must be tackled headlong.
It is believed that the clampdown on cultists and hoodlums, is coming on the heels of recent destruction orchestrated by hoodlums that allegedly hijacked the #ENDSARS protests in the state. In a press statement despatched by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and made available to News planet International. com, he said that “in compliance with the order, police operatives attached to Mushin Division of the command have arrested some suspected cultists that were on rampage at Moroluke/Wey Street, Mushin on 8th Novemeber, 2020 at about 10pm. The suspects arrested included Daniel Adome, 18 years, , Popoola Michael, 20 years, Kayode Thomson, 18 years, and Taiwo Okiki, 18. They are members of ‘Omo Kasari Confraternity’.
Similarly, Following the recent cult related crises in Ikorodu Area of Lagos State, on 9th November, 2020, at about 1215pm, a special operational team, that was despatched by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, led by the Divisional Police Officer in Ipakodo, arrested some members of ‘Aiye Confraternity’ fomenting troubles in the area. The arrested suspects are ; Opeyemi Oderinde, 19 years, Otubu Samson, 17 years, Otako Jeremiah, 16 years, Kayode Agoro, 17 years, Agbelusi Sunday, 20 years, Kazeem Ishola, 20 years, Olasojo Gbolahan, 18 years, Ayodele Olasunkanmi,18 years and Segun James, 21 years.
Items said to have been recovered from the suspects include locally-made guns, live cartridges, axes, cutlasses, charms and some other offensive weapons. SP Adejobi, also stated that the Commissioner of police, has concluded plans to work hand in hand with the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, to secure speedy trial of the suspects as the command’s Operation Say No to Cultism continues.
Odumosu, however, recognises and appreciates the roles being played by community members in making the operations successful. He also called for more supports from all and sundry in the fight against cultism and other vices in the state.
