IGP Enjoin Citizens To Partner Security Agencies In Crime Detection, Prevention

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on Thursday , November 24, 2022, called on Nigerians to see security as everyone’s business.                                                                                                 

In line with his statement, the Police Chief enjoined citizens to assist security agencies in the detection and prevention of crime.

Speaking at the 31st edition of the Annual lecture and award ceremony put together by members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) , held at Providence hotel,  Ikeja GRA in Lagos, the IGP said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the society is crime free.

The event is with the Theme: Insecurity: Tackling the dark cloud over Nigeria’s unity, prosperity ahead of the 2023 General Elections.                                                                       

IGP who was represented at the event by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 2, comprising Lagos and Ogun States, Bode Adeyinka Adeleke, noted that Nigerians have left the task of security solely to the government for far too long, adding that the only way to effectively secure the nation is if the citizens play their part.                                                                     

He explained that the dividends of security could not be quantified in monetary terms, urging all to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information

“All hands must be on deck to ensure a crime free environment” he added.

The police chief also eulogized members of CRAN, insisting that the theme of the lecture is apt, taking into account that the 2023 general election was just by the corners
