It was a promise kept and fulfilled as ,Eze Ndigbo in Ijegun/Ijedodo area of Lagos State, Eze Ambassador Dr. Chika Nwokedi, Okpoko I, yesterday, December 14,2024,put smiles on the faces of Widows, Widowers , Clergymen, Activist, his Staff , Police officers and Journalists, in his yearly empowerment and Christmas bonanza, powered by his Eze Okpoko I Foundation.
The emotion parked occasion which turned out to be an end of the year party to most of the recipients,saw the needy, Widows, Widowers and other guests converting the Eze’s Palace arena to a worship center of some sort, as prayers,praises and encomiums rented the air in an ecstastic dimension.
Eze Nwokedi, who is usually time conscious in all his events, started the annual empowerment at exactly 9am, with opening prayers and remarks.
He was sandwiched by his lovely wife, Ugoeze,Lolo , Pastor Tessy Chika Nwokedi, who he appreciated for her overwhelming support in the growth and activities of his Foundation.
News Planet International reports that about six years before he became the Chairman, Council of Ezendigbo in Lagos State, Eze Chika Nwokedi, had quietly been touching the lives of many needy, less privileged members of the society, including empowering hundreds of widows, widowers .
This his Philantrophic, Humanitarian gestures, Eze Nwokedi explained, was born out of his pray request to God Almighty when he was poor, homeless and beggarly, he Pleaded with God that if He , God will enrich him in life, that he will devote part of his riches to help the poor, needy and the wretched of the society.
Indeed, it was a beehive of activities as food, drinks were not in short supply, besides the gift items like bags of rice, Indomie noodles, tubers of yam, Ankara wrappers, wrist watches and cash gifts worth multiple millions of Naira, which were doled out to the beneficiaries.
Contrary to anticipation in some quarters, considering the economic down turn in the Country,this year’s event doubled previous similar events in terms of quality and quantity of food and gift items received by the beneficiaries.
In the ambient environment, some of the beneficiaries that smiled home with Eze Nwokedi’s unique gestures, were: widows, widowers, police officers, Activist, Clergymen, the less privileged in the society, journalists, friends , Some members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Eze Nwokedi’s Cabinet Chiefs and members of Igbo Speaking Community .
Speaking about his motivation and push that have been compelling him to exhibit such milk of human kindness.Ambassador Nwokedi, expressed his happiness, innermost joy and satisfaction that he is living up to his convernant with God, by puting smiles on the faces of people .
According to him,”Iam passionate about giving. I can give my last Kobo. Whenever I give, it gives me a sense of happiness and satisfaction because I know what the less privileged people pass through in the society.”
Continued He : “I am happy I was a begger that has turned to a giver. My beginning was tough; I slept inside the shop at Ladipo Market for seven years. And I asked God that if He blesses me, I will continue to assist the less privileged in the society. And when God blessed me, I started and have continued the project of giving over 9 years now.”
In his open mindedness, Ambassador Nwokedi, who was critical of the wealthy and Rich in the society ,who he lambasted for spending over N40 million on luxury cars, while the less privileged members of the society, wallow in penury and abject poverty
He therefore admonished them to invest in human resources, especially the needy, poor,homeless, wretched of the society.
In an interview with some of the beneficiaries , especially Widows, they expressed their appreciation to the Eze, and prayed God Almighty to continue to bless him and enrich him further.
Guests and beneficiaries danced vigorously and heartly to the rhythm of songs and music dished out by the Disc Jockey DJ, as they exhibited their dance steps in joy and gratefulness.
