An illustrious Igbo leader, Eze, and accredited United Nations Peace Ambassador, His Highness ,Eze Dr. Nicholas Njoku , Advocates’ that Citizens, Government Must Play their vital and different Roles In Nation Building .
His Excellency ,Ambassador Dr. Nicholas Njoku , who was speaking in an interview with the News planet International,on the current agitation and proposed August,2024 National protest, was of the opinion that the planned protest or indeed any protest, is a constitutional right of the people , because according to him,protests all over the world is an avenue citizens use to convey their grievances ,demands and expectations.
However, His Excellency, Ambassador Njoku, who also is the Eze Ndigbo Aigbiaka in Ejigbo LCDA Lagos state, cautioned the People to understand that no protest is worths any citizens life.
He said : “my advice is that our Citizens should look inwards and consider the consequences of protest in Nigeria , for example the#EndSars# and how it turned violent after it was hijacked by some unscrupulous faceless elements.
Alerting the agitating citizens , he warned that “some irresponsible people most times do hijack protest and cause mayhem , thereby destroying private assets and public property, which in itself are national wealth, hence the People’s property, because they were built with tax payers money and revenue generation”.
On the side of the Parents and government officials, Eze Njoku admonished them to critically x-ray, examine the reason for the agitation, which he believes would help them to determine if the Agitators grievances are genuine or not, to enable them know how to address the issues raised.
He urged President Tinubu, as the father of the Nation ,to hearken to the voices of the Citizens, who he said are all his children.
“Government officials should have come on air, call out the people , assuring them of a better tomorrow.he said.
Giving credit to Federal Administration in Nigeria, Ambassador Njoku who affirmed that the present Government has the credentials and capacity to discourage the organizers and make them sheath their sword, therefore pleaded with the government, to address the agitating citizens in the right manner with a view of forestalling the planned protest .
Finally the Igbo leader who is the Chairman of the Diaspora Ezendigbo from Imo State resident in Lagos,called for peace and unity amongst all ethnic groups in Lagos State and Nigeria in general, adding that such sustainable peace will usher in an enduring National development.
