Coming on the heels of the ongoing apprehensions and heat the proposed August 2024 Protest is generating in the social media and the Nation at large, a  Business mogul,Philanthropist and  Eze Ndigbo of Lagos  Island, His Highness , Eze  Dr. Onyeka Ifekandu, has called for an immediate urgent National Dialogue to forestall  crisis and mayhem in the Country.

Eze Ifekandu Popularly known as Ozonkpu, also said that in view of past National experience over protest,  Igbo Traders, Business Owners and all Ndigbo in Lagos state, should  distance themselves from the proposed August Protest, in their own interest and in the interest of Country as a whole.

The Eze, who also is a Market leader in the Lagos Island, said this :  “I wish to advise the good Igbo Traders of Lagos Island , all the Igbo people in Lagos Island local Government Area , that they should go on with their business and not to participate in the planned protest by some groups against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration of  August 1, 2024.

He said : Iam saying this with much  sincerity of purpose , so as to avoid this protests being hijacked , we should be partners in development for the well being of Nigeria and Lagos state as a whole.

According to him, “I still believe in dialogue as the best approach to national issues than protest, because relying on protest is an opportunity whereby miscreants  hijacks it and use it as an alternative to destroy same Igbo peoples wealth and goods  and also government property . People should go on their business and be partners in progress, with time government will get it right.

Eze Ifekandu advised that “All agitation should be put on drawing table , we should dialogue and see reasons and thinker together on how government  will make whatever our needs are, whatever difficulties in business that people are facing ,  cost of living , government can with proper dialogue make it better”, he said.

News planet International reports that Eze  Ifekandu, also known as Eze Anaemenkili, stated this in his audio message, dispatched to our reporter,on the heels of the agitation against the present administration over economic hardship in Nigeria.

He explained that protest is not what we need right now at this critical condition rather prayers for God’s intervention over the security and economic challenges facing the country.

He assured the Lagos State Government and the party leaders in the State that Ndigbo will not participate in the protest and will continue to cooperate with them to maintain peace in the State.

Eze  Ifekandu stated that embarking on protest will cause more hardship to the people now that the Government is looking for ways to revamp the economy.

He declared that Ndigbo will not participate in such senseless protest in Lagos  Island LGA and the entire Lagos State.

He also noted that truly the people are suffering due to the economic problems facing the country, but embarking on protest was not the option because hoodlums will use the opportunity to destroy lives and property in the State.

He stated that he has been going round the Lagos Island LGA and other places, educating Ndigbo and other ethnic groups on why they should not participate in the protest and assured security agencies, State Government, Party leaders and other critical stakeholders that Ndigbo will not participate in the protest in Lagos State.

Eze Anaemenkili urged all Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and give him time to fix the economy and other challenges facing Nigeria while asking that all should be patient with him.

He also urged Ndigbo to continue to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, the ruling party in the State and Federal and continue to maintain peace while doing their normal businesses across the State.

He also commended the Chairman of Lagos Island LGA and his entire team for their efforts in bringing development to the grassroots and prayed that God should continue to bless them.

“Let’s give President Tinubu more time, he is just one year in office and he needs more time to implement his policies in order to improve on the economic hardship many people are facing in Nigeria” he said.

He also called for peace and unity among the ethnic groups and posited that it is only when there is peace and unity, that Nigeria will surmount all economic and security challenges facing it.

The position of Eze Ifekandu ,was in line with the position of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, who has also warned against embarking on such protest and called for the stakeholders to educate their people especially the youths in their areas not to participate in the protest because the Police will not allow the destruction of lives and property as the case of EndSARS protest.
