2023 ELECTIONS : NUC Shut Down Universities From Feb. 22 To March 14, 2023

All Universities to close down till after general elections says the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, while directing that all universities and inter-university centers, be closed down for students and staff to participate in the forthcoming general elections.

In a circular dated February 3, 2023, the minister, through the National Universities Commission (NUC), directs Vice Chancellors of all universities and Directors/Chief Executive Officers of all Inter-university centers, to shut down their respective institutions from Wednesday February 22, to Tuesday March 14, 2023, when the elections would have been concluded.

The circular also referred to insecurity as part of the reasons for closure of the educational institutions.

The circular sighted by News Planet International was signed by Chris J. Maiyaki, Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration) on behalf of the Executive Secretary (NUC), Professor Abubakar Rasheed.
